URBAN FRAGMENTS | CHORLTON

A contemporary photographic collage by Jack Lloyd that explores the architectural heritage, cultural identity, and distinctive character of Chorlton, Manchester.

Centred around the historic Chorlton Library, the composition brings together familiar local architecture, urban textures, street graphics and fragments of everyday life. Layers of photographic imagery overlap and intersect, creating an imaginative interpretation of this well-established Manchester neighbourhood.

A striking architectural focal point contrasts with contemporary signage, bold typography, and washes of turquoise, coral, and muted pastel colour.

By combining historic and modern elements, the artwork reflects Chorlton's individual character—a neighbourhood where architectural heritage, independent culture and contemporary urban life exist side by side.

As part of the Urban Fragments collection, this piece moves beyond traditional architectural photography, presenting a familiar location through a distinctive arrangement of colour, texture, and perspective.
